WoW Mouse Software Interface

The latest WoW Cataclysm mouse software can be downloaded from the SteelSeries web site, and we can find versions available for both Windows and Mac OS X:

After the download has been completed, we can go ahead and install the application:

When we click on the new tray icon, the main interface will pop-up, which has the same skin as inside the World of Warcraft game; the menus are intuitive, and on the top side we can find the Profile Area, along with the Character Information and the button groups with the current assignments. On the same screen we can find a Mouse Memory usage indicator, the Save On-Board button and the Restore Defaults button. On the bottom we can find some photos of the mouse, with the button locations. The sides of this window can be expanded with other small menus, like Mouse Properties, Button Assignments or Illumination:

In the Mouse Properties menu, we can adjust the standard mouse settings like CPU Value, Double-Click Speed, Scroll Speed, Windows Pointer Speed or Advanced Sensivity; the Polling Rate is not found in this menu, but in the Tools-> Pooling Rate top drop-down menu:

The CPI value can be adjusted with values from 800 to 5000:

Inside the Button Assignments menu, we can set Game Commands, Change CPI on-the-fly, change the Profile or create Custom Macros:

From the Game Commands menu, we can select one of the predefined game functions (this actually represents the “Key Bindings” menu found in World of Warcraft, which allows us to easily assign any in-game commands to the mouse buttons:

The Change CPI menu allows us to assign on-the-fly CPI values switch to any mouse button; we can assign specific CPIs to buttons, or we can use the CPI UP/DOWN function to cycle through all available values:

The Change Profile menu allows us to assign any mouse buttons to switch between profiles:
