I’ve used 1.5cm think insulation of Armaflex
, there are many types of insulation but the best is closed sell foam. This means no air can go through it.
Once you strapped the container in insulation, you need to do some work on the motherboard, to make sure no condensation can form during your benching marking run, and possible spoil the fun… and your hardware. I used layers of 1cm Armaflex to create the following:
If you want to go the extra mile you apply some none conductive grease onto the motherboard to prevent condensation completely!
When everything insulated it’s time for the final preparation steps, lapping or sanding down the container: to improve contact with the CPU. Use grid 250-400 to remove all scratches, and then work up with 500-600-800 till grid 1000. After that it should be perfectly flat. You can polish your base for that extra little *bling* effect. .
Now you’re ready to install the container ->
