Scythe Infinity Mugen CPU Cooler Review
Scythe Infinity Mugen CPU Cooler Review
Scythe has been at the top of their game the last several years, releasing excellent high end CPU heatsink which offer amazing performance/noise ratios. Today we test their latest product which is set to overshadow all their previous offerings, 5 heat pipes and 120mm fan support make can make this Tower designed HSF the next best thing. Let´s see if that is true.

Installation

3 different sets of clips are included, two are for the Intel platforms (S478/S775) and one for S939/AM2, below you can see the AMD clips installed:

They fit perfectly over the default AMD bracket and provide a secure fit, although with a weight close to 1kg it's adviced to transport your tower PC case lying flat; to prevent strain on the motherboard.

The 120mm fan can be mounted at all sides of the heatsink, this allows multiple fans to fit, unfortunately only one pair of mounting clips is provided.

The downside of the none-square design is the presence of an optimal and less than optimal side to mount the fan on. The wide side of the heatsink fits a 120mm fan perfectly as you can see here:

But on the AM2/S939 the orientation of the heatsink can not be changed, in order for the fan to blow towards the rear of the case it needs to be mounted on the thinner side of the Infinity, as you can see, the fan is wider than the heatsink:
