  Introduction

OCZ has been diversifying their product line-up for many years now, starting out with overclocking minded memory modules and branching out to other hardware components and even peripherals. Today we take a closer look at their latest gaming mouse, the Behemoth.

This aptly named product is a mouse which is noticeable larger than most mice you will encounter; its form makes it a right-hand only mouse, with the usual buttons in place, as well as some more advanced features you won’t find on your ordinary PC rodent.

The specifications of the Behemoth already reveal some of the extra features you will find on this mouse; you have a centrally positioned button to change DPI on the fly; and while the specs above list 800-1600-2400-3200, these steps can be configured to your liking, with the maximum being 3200, but lower steps can be anything you want, 800-1200-2800-3200 for example, is perfectly possible.

Another specification worth noting is the weight, a maximum of 159 gram, but you can reduce the weight by removing small metal weights located on the bottom in the mouse. If you are used to a wireless mouse which has an integrated battery pack, the 159 gram max weight still feels relatively light.

    Special Features
  • Programmable buttons
  • LED display for dpi change
  • Unique large ergonomic form factor for ultimate comfort
  • Adjustable cable positioning for ultimate gaming flexibility
  • 5 Customizable weights
  • Mode change button to maximize macro configurations
  • Black rubberized surface for a no-slip grip

OCZ included a small configuration software tool that allows you to completely configure the buttons on the Behemoth to match your gaming style, and then saving them in a profile which is stored on the mouse; so your configuration will follow you around if you switch between PCs.

Example of two scripts; first one links Alt-Tab to a mouse button, the second one starts up a Command Prompt

The basic options of the tool are quite standard fair, where you reassign the function of the different buttons; but then you stumble upon the advanced options tab and realize OCZ did go a little further here. The software gives you the ability to record mouse and keyboard actions, and then play them back with a push of a button; you can edit these scripts endlessly and then upload them to the mouse where they will be stored for future usage.

We were a bit disappointed that OCZ choose to include the config tool on a separate CD, while the Behemoth mouse has onboard memory, and is connected over USB, it would have been so more convenient to have the tool stored on the mouse’s onboard memory.
