Sunbeamtech is the company behind the Tuniq Tower 120 heatsink which ruled our performance charts for quite some time. So when they send over their latest high end CPU Cooler we definitely take notice. In our test today we take a closer look at the Core-Contact Freezer, as the name reveals, this is a direct heatpipe touch unit, although it’s not made by the people behind the Xigmatek and OCZ Vendetta products; so is this unit from Sunbeamtech any good? Time to find out.  Full official specs straight from the box:  This isn’t a compact CPU cooler, it’s a tower cooler build to support one 120mm fan, the total weight is over 600gram when installed. Inside the box Sunbeamtech has included all the goodies needed to mount it on the support platforms as well as their own 120mm fan and a dedicated fan speed controller (similar to Tuniq Tower 120). You also get their TX-2 thermal goop which performs nicely, a manual with installation instructions and 2 clips to mount the fan.  The Core-Contact Freezer is made up by 4 U-form heat pipes which come in direct contact with the CPU IHS, there’s a nice collection of aluminum fins which means that a higher speed fan should do nicely for performance.  At the other side of the Freezer the fins bulge outwards a bit to maximize surface area, this also means that you can only install one 120mm fan.  The base consists of the 4 heat pipes which are flattened and a aluminum heatsink which fills the gaps; while using a macro shot you can spot machine lapping traces, it’s advised to not manually lap this type of heatsink for an extended period of time, unless you want something like this to happen.
