T-Zero : The Challenge
A while back we received an intriguing email from CJH International, a company we had not heard of before:
Could you review or test the thermal compound which we develop? Our test results show that the difference in temperature with Arctic Silver 5 is 1°C under 60W and 2°C under 100W.
Their high performance thermal compound, aptly called T-Zero, claims to outperform one of the most widely used enthusiast thermal pastes, namely, Arctic Silver 5. Although thermal paste can only help "so much" in obtaining lower temperature, it is always good to have strong competition to push the manufactures to further improve their products so they can have the advantage over their competitor.
We happily accepted their offer to see if their compound could deliver. Knowing that thermal paste testing can be a time consuming operation, with even the smallest fluctuations leading to invalid data, we set out to construct a test bed which could give us accurate numbers without having to redo the testing too often to obtain average results.
T-Zero : The Paste
T-Zero comes in a small tube of 5g and is easily applicable using a credit card, removal was not too challenging either. For comparison in our test we used AS's Ceramique, which performs very closely to their AS5 product (~1°C difference).
